OTP Bank won Best Bank Country Award
OTP Bank won the ‘Best Bank in Hungary’ title at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2020 competition. The Montenegrin and Albanian subsidiaries of the Banking Group were also recognised as best banks in their respective countries.
Starting from 1992, Euromoney provides a regular, yearly assessment of the financial market participants of various regions and countries, and recognises outstanding performance by awarding the best of the year title. This year, winners were chosen from submissions by almost 1,000 banks from 100 countries worldwide, based on key financial indicators and performance, as well as service development and innovation activity. In addition, during the selection procedure judges consider size, scope of activity and profitability, evaluate an institution’s ability to grow and its performance relative to competitors, and examine whether the bank successfully adjusted to changing customer needs and market requirements primarily through the development of digital products and services.
In its assessment, Euromoney emphasised OTP Bank’s excellent return on equity, successful organic and acquisition growth strategy and its contribution to bank recapitalisation in the Central and Eastern European region. Special recognition was also given for the Bank’s commitment to the development of digital services and innovation as well as its customer-oriented approach, in which the Bank stands out not only in Hungary but also in the regional markets of Montenegro and Albania.
The accomplishments of two subsidiaries of OTP Bank – the Montenegrin CKB Bank and the Albanian OTP Bank Albania – were also recognised by Euromoney: they respectively received the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2020: Montenegro’s Best Bank and the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2020: Albania’s Best Bank titles, demonstrating that the Banking Group offers the highest level of services, innovation and expertise to its customers not only in Hungary, but – through its subsidiaries – in the Central and Eastern European region as well.
